Quantitative Aptitude / Modern mathematics
Counting arrangements and selections, then evaluating event likelihood.
Listen and follow along. Progress stays on this browser. No login needed.
Start with the basics
A permutation counts arrangements where order matters. A combination counts selections where order does not matter. Probability compares favourable outcomes with all equally likely outcomes.
Choose one of three identical covered cards labelled A, B and C at random. What is the probability of B?
Remember: The equally likely condition matters. Picking two people is different from assigning them two different jobs.

Prioritise common arithmetic, number properties and algebra. Label units before applying formulas.
Start with arithmetic and algebra. Check domain restrictions and use estimation before long calculations; specialised topics are supporting preparation.
Build reliable arithmetic and chart reading first. Keep speed proportional to certainty and verify the base of percentage changes.
Budget time within the section. In data sufficiency, separate the two statements before combining them.
Combine common quantitative skills with accurate interpretation of unfamiliar data. Recheck units and assumptions.
Use arithmetic and elementary algebra with logical checks. Avoid importing geometry or specialist CAT topics into the study plan.
Choose a fast method only after identifying the base and units. In sufficiency questions, test uniqueness rather than calculating unnecessarily.

One favourable choice out of three equally likely choices: P(B) = ⅓.
nPr = n! ÷ (n − r)!
nCr = n! ÷ [r!(n − r)!]
P(event) = favourable ÷ total equally likely outcomes
