Start with the basics
A syllogism asks what must follow from statements about groups. Diagrams help separate what is certain from what is possible.
All roses are flowers. All flowers are plants. What must be true about roses?
Remember: “All roses are flowers” does not mean all flowers are roses.

Use diagrams for relationships and distinguish logical necessity from everyday plausibility.
Translate statements into diagrams or simple conditions. Check whether a conclusion is necessary rather than merely possible.
Test assumptions and deductions, then use small structured cases for puzzles and input-output rules.
Use compact diagrams, clear direction conventions and quick elimination. Skip long uncertain branches and return later.
Explain the idea in your own words before opening the answer. Then apply it to the example.
Explain the main rule in categorical statements, then apply it to a small example. State the assumption that makes your reasoning valid.
Review the noteAll A are B expresses containment; no A are B expresses separation; some A are B asserts at least one shared member. Universal statements alone do not guarantee existence.
Worked example: All poets are writers and all writers are readers implies all poets are readers. It does not establish that any poets exist, unless a separate statement gives existence.
Explain the main rule in valid conclusions, then apply it to a small example. State the assumption that makes your reasoning valid.
Review the noteA conclusion is valid only if every arrangement satisfying the premises also satisfies it. One counterexample defeats necessity.
Worked example: Some artists are teachers and all teachers are graduates implies some artists are graduates. It does not imply that all artists are graduates.
